WACKY ATHLETICS HOUSE RESULTS

Well the results speak for themselves! Loch dominated the Grade 3-6 competition and the F-2 competition! Well done Loch!! You’ve stopped the winning streak of Orrong in Grades 3-6 and retained Loch’s leading position in the F-2 competition.

Well done to everyone who got involved. You all did a terrific job with having an open mind when taking part in modified athletic events and great resilience when learning how to navigate new technology whilst submitting your results.

It has been a great House competition, doing the best we can in the virtual world and something we could always do in the future to maximise our House competitions.

VIRTUAL HOUSE COMPETITION

To continue our virtual House competition theme, this week we launched another challenge for students in their houses. This week’s theme is to submit a video or picture of your best trick. Every student’s best entry receives 10 valuable House points and the overall winner from F-2 and 3-6 will get a bonus 50 House points. This is purely an optional task for students, but we do encourage as many students as possible to get involved in representing their House, having some fun and connecting. This House competition comes out via seesaw every Monday, closes every Thursday and the winners and House points will be announced on Friday in assembly and in the following weeks House competition task.

FOUNDATION ATHLETICS UNIT REFLECTIONS

Miss Jo has blown away by the quality of reflection tasks by the Foundation students last week linked to athletics. Not only were they able to share in words, drawings or videos of their favourite event, but also share an understanding of what happens to the body during exercise. Miss Jo would like to share some of their fabulous examples:

This will not replace P.E. but is purely a physical activity addition to the day. The details for the WebEx meetings remain the same weekly, please save these details. There will be a theme each week and this will be announced at the end of the session for the upcoming week.

VIRTUAL ASSEMBLY

This week’s theme for assembly is to wear your favourite team's colours. This could be any sporting team e.g. soccer, AFL, netball, hockey etc. You might choose to wear your full kit, a jersey, a scarf, a beanie or something that has the colours of your team. See you Friday at 2.30pm

NATIONAL HEALTH & P.E. DAY

This is a nationwide initiative that highlights the importance of health and P.E. in the Victorian Curriculum, and its influence on the learning and development of children. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a parent, caregiver, teacher or principal - everyone has a role to play in helping young people take a step towards leading healthier and happier lives.

To celebrate the health and well-being of our future generations we will have some special activities held on Thursday 10th September, instead of the official day on the 2nd September because we do not want to disrupt our creativity day activities.

For Grades 3-6, this will include a Video call and Q&A session with Olympic diver Annabelle Smith from 2pm-3pm on WebEx.
