What Will You Be Doing?

by Mrs Stonehouse-Melke, Assistant Principal

Hello Everyone,

I wish to thank all our students, staff and parents for all the wonderful work and effort they have exuded to make this term as successful as it has been. I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the magnificent work that the students have been producing during this remote learning period.

It is now time for many of us to have a well-deserved break and recharge the batteries and be ready for term 4. I have had many teachers and parents enquire what I intend to do these school holidays and it will require some creative thought on my part as restrictions will still be imposed through this period.

One of the first things I am looking forward to is getting out the board games and playing with my teenage children: Scrabble, Monopoly, Stratego, Cludo, Carcassonne, Checkers and Chess are our family favourites. I am sure many of our school families will be doing the same. What are your favourite board games?

Secondly, I will be going out into my garden and pulling out all the spring weeds that have appeared over the past few weeks and getting tangled in my freesia’s and iris’s. Spring is a great time to plant seeds and bulbs, so I am looking forward to using some small pots on my veranda and planting some gorgeous blooms. Who else will be spending time planting this spring?

Thirdly, I look forward to indulging my love of the arts and watching “Ballet TV”. There are some fabulous documentaries and performances to watch free to air at http://australianballet.com.au/tv/category/education-videos and this may be something that you would enjoy watching with your children during the holidays. I will also indulge my love of musical entertainment by watching Big Night In at the Arts Centre Melbourne - https://www.artscentremelbourne.com.au/community/content-hub/together-with-you/videos/big-night-in and watching performers such as Casey Donovan and Human Nature perform with the Aussie Pops Orchestra.  This also may be something you would enjoy watching with your children.

What other fantastic ideas do you have to entertain you and your family during this school holiday break?

Have a great break and I look forward to seeing all of our students in Term 4.
