College Charter Bus

John XXIII College offers Horizons West private bus services taking children to and from school. Currently we run a Southern route through Swanbourne, Cottesloe, Mosman Park, North Fremantle and East Fremantle. We are pleased to extend this service to the north (Floreat, City Beach, Wembley Downs, Scarborough, Doubleview, Woodlands) and the east (Floreat, Churchlands, Wembley, West Leederville) to allow more families the opportunity to make use of this private, safe and convenient bus service.

The service is safe and an affordable option for all primary and secondary students.

Tickets are $2.50 each way and can be purchased online via the secure Horizons West e-ticketing system. It’s easy to set-up: your child just scans their SmartRider to link directly to their account. Please note that moving forward, the minimum deposit amount for the Horizons West bus ticketing system will be $40 due to amendments in the fee structure from the Horizons West's payment gateway provider.

To find out more information about the specific stops and times in your area please view the PDF below.

Please remind your children that they must wear a mask on the John XXIII College charter bus service.

SmartRider - College Charter Bus

A reminder that students using the College Charter Bus service must tag on with their SmartRider. Horizons West has reported that many students are forgetting their SmartRider card, so they are needing to manually enter their details. As you can imagine, this slows the service and causes delays. We appreciate your assistance in reminding your children.

Cashless bus ticketing

The e-ticketing system is provided by Horizons West, it is simple to set-up, safe and secure. Your child can simply scan using their SmartRider which will link directly to their account.

How to get started:

  • Visit Horizon’s West e-ticketing system: www.horizonswest.com.au/eticketing
  • Sign up for e-ticketing
  • Register each student by entering their first name, last name and unique student code (ensure these are identical to details found on the student’s SmartRider).
  • Upload funds
  • Once complete students will be able to use their SmartRider on the College charter bus. If students have lost their SmartRider, or are yet to receive their card, they can simply provide their name and unique student code to the bus driver.

Some things to note:

The minimum deposit amount for the Horizons West bus ticketing system will be $40 due to amendments in the fee structure from the Horizons West's payment gateway provider.

Existing Transperth funds are not transferrable to Horizons West. Families must upload funds via the Horizons West e-ticketing system for use on John XXIII College charter buses.

The College has supplied Horizons West with student’s SmartRider RFID and unique student code, in line with our privacy policy. To view Horizons West e-ticketing terms and conditions and Horizons West privacy policy, click here.

SmartRider Information

Parents/guardians should be aware that students will require a student SmartRider to access concession travel on Transperth, bus, rail and ferry services, as well as the College’s charter bus services. The SmartRider card is similar in size to a credit card and is available to all students.

Primary Students

Primary students wishing to order a SmartRider can request one via the College library. The library staff will then place an order for a new SmartRider. They will then notify your classroom teacher, who will distribute the card to you.

Year 7 students

At the start of the school year, the College automatically applies for student SmartRiders for all Year 7 students. Once cards have arrived, they are distributed via Homeroom.

My SmartRider has been lost/stolen/broken, how do I get a new card?

Collect a Replacement SmartRider form from the College library. The library staff will then place an order for a new SmartRider. You will be notified when your card is ready for collection; you will be asked to come to the library to collect your card. New or replacement cards take approximately a week to arrive.

Have you got the Horizon West Bus App
