Year 10 Gold Coast Trip
Beautiful one day... perfect the next!
After two years of Covid restrictions and cancelled camps and excursions 64 excited Year 10 students bundled themselves and their bags onto the bus early on the morning of 10th September heading for the much-idealized Gold Coast.
After an arduous 24-hour bus trip the burning question on their lips. “Are we there yet?” was finally answered as they reached their destination. Straight off the bus, albeit exhausted, their enthusiasm resurfaced as they raced off to their first activity, ‘Wet and Wild’ where they had their first taste of what was in store for the next few days – endless hours of fun!
That first night everyone flaked out and slept like babies. The visit to the Jellurgal Aboriginal Culture Centre the following day was at a much more relaxed pace and was capped off with some shopping time at Harbour Town. As they reached the middle of their fun packed week they headed for the beach for their surfing and paddle boarding lessons, both of which were new and thrilling experiences. Similarly, the evenings provided a variety of entertaining activities like mini golf, movies and games for all.
The last two days were spent at the renowned theme parks – the reason everyone goes to the Gold Coast. Dreamworld was the first stop followed in quick pursuit by Movie World. Both of these theme parks did not disappoint, with the thrill of loads of rides in addition to the maximum entertainment for one and all.
After five action packed days the almost delirious campers headed back home, exhausted but happy about an unforgettable and very school camp with stories and special memories which will be the hot topic of discussion for some time.
