Principal's Report
Sue Carr
Dear Parents and Friends,
It is lovely to be back at St Brendan’s after three months away. The greeting I received from the students as they arrived at school warmed my heart. I would like to reassure all parents that I am really well and ready to lead our beautiful school into 2023.
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Bernie Turner who led the school so capably and with such warmth and compassion during my absence. Our school leadership team ably assisted Bernie in this challenging role. I would like to thank Emma Chapple (Religious Education Leader), Justin Barry (Learning and Teaching Leader), Daniela Ruberto (Diversity Leader), Sue Slavin (Literacy Leader) and Tess Haddock (Wellbeing Leader) who supported Bernie in ensuring that our school ran smoothly and effectively during my absence.
To our teachers and Learning Support Officers, thank you for your professionalism and collaborative approach as you worked to engage with your students and support them through these challenging winter months.
Finally, to the wonderful administration staff, Wendy Ziino and Louise Street, thank you for being who you are and doing what you do so with such warmth and professionalism.
We look forward to working together in partnership with you for the remainder of Term Three.
I am, as always, available to meet with you should you require advice and support for your children.
Have a wonderful week.
Warmest regards,
Sue
Dear Parents, Guardians, family and friends,
I would like to welcome Sue Carr back to school. We certainly missed her being around and popping in and out of the classrooms. I must admit Sue looks fighting fit, rested and relaxed. I would also like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to the wonderful staff at St.Brendan’s for their endless support and help while Sue was away. I certainly could not have done it without them. Lastly, thank you to the wonderful parents of St Brendan’s, for your kind words of encouragement and support.
We are lucky to be a part of such a caring community.
I hope you had the opportunity to get out and enjoy the few days of finer weather. It was like a little test run of better things to come.
There certainly was a real buzz around the school last Friday for the Book Week parade, and the incursion “Gallery for A Day.”
I hope the children came home talking about the amazing collection of books and illustrations that Mandy Cooper put on display. Mandy’s private collection of original illustrations was mind blowing. Her passion for picture story books and the process involved in creating them was phenomenal.
I must admit I am always in awe of the wonderful, creative and inspiring bookweek costume we continue to see year after year. It can not go unrecognised the work that many parents put into producing these costumes, thank you! We are helping to develop lifelong readers and building cherished memories. (There are many photos on Instagram and Facebook- don’t forget to follow us!)
Here is a very special date to add to your calendar.
Father’s Day Breakfast is back! Friday 2nd September, we welcome all special men in the children's life to come and celebrate a lovely breakfast with us in the Multi-purpose room. So come along and enjoy a delicous egg and bacon roll, prepared by the wonderful staff of StBrendan’s.
The Father’s day stall, will start directly after the breakfast.
As you may be aware Catholic Education Commission Victoria (CECV) have released an updated Child Safe Schools Commitment Statement to reflect the requirements of new Child Safe Standards and Ministerial Order (MO) 1359. Please see below for further details.

What does this mean for schools?
As Catholic educators, we have a moral, mission-driven and legal responsibility to uphold and actively promote the wellbeing and safety of every student entrusted to our care. Catholic schools are well-placed to respond to the changes because the extensive strategies and policies already in place for the wellbeing and safety of every child will help them be compliant with the new CSS. (CEVN)
Just a reminder that Friday 16 September is a school closure day. The staff will be planning our ‘School Improvement Plan, and our ‘Annual Action Plan’, incorporating recommendations from our School Review process. They will also be planning for Term 4 in their team levels. TheirCare will be providing a full day program for those families that require their service.
