Faith Matters

at St Francis Xavier School

Dear St Francis Xavier Families,

I am delighted to share with you that we will be having a whole school mass on Sunday, October, 9th at 10:30am.  It has been some time since we have been able to join the parish to celebrate as a community so we are very much looking forward to this day.

We welcome all our families both Catholic and non Catholic to attend.  I know the children are always keen to participate in our community masses and take on a responsibilities such as reading prayers, taking up the Offertory Gifts and joining in singing the faith songs they know from school.  So, I hope many of you will be able to come along.  This will also be the mass at which our Year 6 students who are receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation will be presented to the Parish.

PREP LITURGY

Last week Fr Chinua celebrated a classroom liturgy with the Prep children.  The Preps have been doing some wonderful learning about friendships and caring for others so the theme of the liturgy was 'God Loves me and Wants Me to Show My Love to Others'.  I could not have been more impressed with the children who were attentive and enthusiastic in their participation and said their prayers so beautifully. Fr Chinua described his experience with the Preps as wonderful and I think he particularly enjoyed joining in the singing and dancing along to 'These Hands' at the end of the liturgy.

LOOKING FORWARD TO TERM 4

Next term we are hoping to reintroduce some of the faith practices and events we were      required to put on hold for the last couple of years due to covid restrictions.

Prayers in Pyjamas was one of our favourite Junior School faith experiences and we anticipate having it on Wednesday, November 9th at 6pm.

Junior School families please keep that date free as it promises to be a very special evening.

More details in Term 4.

In Term 4, our Faith in Action Leaders will be leading whole school prayer every Tuesday morning at 8:50am. Each week will have a theme and our entire school will pause, reflect and pray together in a variety of unique ways for different intentions.

FATHERS' DAY

This Sunday is Fathers' Day and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and show our appreciation of the special men in our lives, fathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers or friends.

We look forward to welcoming those of you who are able to attend our breakfast tomorrow morning.

Yours in faith,

Marion
