Saint Francis Xavier - Principal's Report

Term 3 - Week 8

Dear Parents and Friends of St Francis Xavier,

As we move closer to the end of term three, it is nice to be saying goodbye to Winter and hello to Spring! Hopefully it brings us some warmer days and drier playgrounds over the next few weeks. I once again thank students, families and our staff for their resolve in navigating through the challenges of this term.

Father's Day Breakfast

We are very excited to be welcoming Dads, Uncles, Grandparents and other significant men in our student's lives to breakfast tomorrow morning. We haven't been able to have a Father's Day breakfast since 2019, so it is a great relief that tomorrow is taking place. A huge thank you to Mel Sotelo and her team of helpers who have organised the cooking.

Grade 5/6 Camp

I know that the Grade 5/6 teachers have written about camp and shared some amazing photos on their class newsletter pages, but I just wanted to acknowledge what an amazing group of Grade 5/6 students we have at S.F.X.

I was lucky enough to attend camp with the Grade 5/6's last week, alongside Miss Renee, Mr Cameron, Miss Kim and Miss Yvette. Camp Rumbug is an adventure camp and it provides many challenges that certainly aim to take individuals outside their comfort zones. I was witness to countless moments where students demonstrated courage, risk-taking, co-operation, resilience and determination. The way the students looked after one another and the teamwork they showed made me so very proud.

We now look forward to our 2023 Camps. The Grade 3/4 students will visit Don Bosco Camp for an overnight stay in November and the Grade 5/6 students will spend three days in September immersing themselves in the wonderful world of Sovereign Hill.

Circus Information

The S.F.X Circus Spectacular continues to creep closer - only 14 more sleeps! Thursday 15th September is the big day.

A detailed letter will be sent out early next week with much more detailed information about the rehearsal day and the production evening, however I wanted to share a few key points with you now.

  • We have sold 220 tickets so far. Please remember that every child who performs on the evening needs at least one person in the audience to watch them. If you are yet to purchase your ticket/s, please do so before next Wednesday 7th September. After this date, we will be opening up the tickets to families who wish to purchase extra tickets for family members.  Please click the link below now to organise your tickets.

Cost of tickets - Adult - $14.00 and Child (2-17) - $10.00

  • Children should endeavour to wear all black on the evening. The Circus Crew provide the 'bling' to wear over their tops on the night.
  • While the performance starts at 6:30pm sharp, we will be asking all students to be dropped at the theatre doors between 5:45pm - 6:00pm, so they can head to the waiting rooms below. Members of the audience are usually invited to enter the theatre 15 minutes prior to the start of the show. Please lock these times away and make sure students do not arrive after 6:00pm.

Getting out of cars in the drive through

I have noticed that there are a lot of parents who are exiting your cars in the school driveway during the morning drop-off period.

Can I please remind everybody of the following rules for our driveway;

  1. Nobody should be exiting the vehicle on the driver's side during morning drop-off, including parents. Children need to get out of the car independently. It really shouldn't take more than 20 seconds per car.
  2. School bags should be with students in the car, not in the car boot. Students exit the car with their bag.
  3. If your child is unable to exit the car independently, then you need to park your car across the road or in the church car park and let them walk up to school.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.
