AIEF Graduation

On Monday 8 August, Cadell Hendrikse – Year 12 Foley,  along with approximately 50 other Australian Indigenous Education Foundation (AIEF) Scholarship Students from schools around the country, gathered to attend the AIEF Graduation celebrations held at the iconic Sydney Opera House. This year was a particularly special occasion as students were joined by alumni from the AIEF Classes of 2020 and 2021 who had their graduation events upended due to the impact of the pandemic.

There were many inspirational speakers across the evening including a special appearance from the ‘Wiggles’ to cap off what was a spectacular evening. Tuesday morning then saw all the AIEF graduates taken on a Sydney Harbour Cruise aboard Tribal Warrior where they spent time on Me-Mal Island (Goat Island) and were provided with a highly informative and interesting tour of the island. The day then concluded with some traditional Indigenous dancing along with music from local Indigenous dance groups.
