Pitch2Panel Program

Pitch2Panel Program Winners Announcement

Dear JMSS Community,

After weeks of collaboration amongst our Year 10 students in the Term 3 Issues Studies Climate Change and Sustainable Cities curriculum, our 8 student selected groups presented their redeveloped sustainable cities in the Pitch2Panel Program in collaboration with the Monash Tech School, Monash Council, School of Social Sciences and Schiavellow Group. The teachers and panellists were blown away by the talent, critical & creative thinking and plethora of innovative and incredibly thoughtful pitches showcasing redesigned and redeveloped cities in decline.

The Year 10 student groups had to select a 'city in decline scenario' and redevelop the city to make it not only functional and liveable but sustainable for a growing population. Student groups modelled their redesigned cities in Minecraft before presenting their pitches to their class groups before voting on two groups from each double class to represent them.

Student groups selected for the competition by their peers presented their pitches to an industry panel made up of Susie Petris - Sustainability Officer with Monash Council, Associate Professor Megan Farrelly - Interim Head School of Social Sciences Monash University, Vito Chiodo - Property Director The Schiavello Group and Karen Freidin - Engagement Manager, Monash Net Zero Initiative and received invaluable and highly praising feedback on their presentations. A video library of pitches will be made available to the community towards the end of this week.

Importantly the results from the competition are in and I have great pleasure in sharing them below! Again the feedback from all the panellists highlighted the calibre and impressive performance of all groups but were particularly impressed by the top three groups highlighted below. Congratulations to all students for their passion and commitment to their studies and presentations.
