To the JMSS Community,
What a jam-packed term! I want to sincerely thank the community for their support whilst Peter Corkill was away, and I stepped into the Principal seat. I would also like to acknowledge the effort of both staff and students during the term. This was the first uninterrupted 10-week term in quite some time, so I feel that everyone needs the upcoming break. I encourage all to incorporate a healthy amount of rest and recharging along with whatever work needs to be done and trust that students and staff can return fully charged after the break.
Student Leadership
The end of Term 3 sees the current student leadership positions finishing. This year’s student leaders have done an outstanding job at re-establishing Parliament Meetings and holding many school events. I want to make a special mention to the School Captains; Aabshaar Ahmad, Vibha Srinivasan, Ruby Nathan-Valentine and Ben Russell. These four young adults have gone above and beyond to leave a lasting legacy at the school. I have greatly enjoyed working with them and know each of them will go on to do amazing things post JMSS.
I would like thank all students who applied for a leadership position for 2023. The effort that went into the process was exceptional. For those students who were not fortunate enough to obtain a formal leadership position, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to develop your leadership skills further and contribute to this fantastic school.
Policies
I would like to draw the communities attention to two policies that have recently been reviewed; the Student Dress Code Policy and the Mobile Phone and Headphone Policy - both attached. I have sent a form to students to ask any clarifying questions about either policy and I will create a FAQs sheet to support the smooth implementation of both. The expectation is that both policies will be fully implemented at the beginning of Term 4. I would like to thank the students, staff and members of the community who worked with me to refine both documents.
Finally, I wish to remind everyone of several important contacts over the holiday period. If anyone is experiencing significant distress, please contact any of the organisations below or I am also happy to be emailed if anyone needs support

Have a fantastic break and take to opportunity to do something fun!
