A Chilly Open Water Experience

On Friday 24th March, 38 students braved the treacherous weather conditions at St Georges Lake, Creswick to learn about Open Water Safety...

Students were beyond excited leading up to this excursion. The excitement was quickly diminished when the weather forecast was announced for the day. Regardless, our first group of students put on a brave face and headed to the lake.

We started in two groups, where we learnt about water safety including what to do if caught in a rip, supervision requirements and how to perform CPR. We knew that soon we would be entering the lake for some hands-on experience in open water, and boy were we excited. However, the weather God's had other plans...

The wind and weather became that unbearable after 30 minutes that the event had to be called off. Our second group of students were lucky enough to have the experience in the Gym at School.

Our first group of students did an amazing effort to brave those chilling waters on Friday.
