Year One/Two News

Respectful Relationships

During this term the Year One/Two’s have been learning about emotional literacy. If we can name the emotion we are feeling it helps ourselves, and others, to understand how we are feeling.

Students have also been encouraged to name situations where they could experience a particular feeling. This has encouraged a sharing of how different events can bring about the same emotion in others. It has also supported students' understanding of what it means to be empathetic and how to show empathy towards others.

Millie students have also learnt about personal strengths. Every one of us has at least one personal strength. By naming different strengths it helps us to identify them in ourselves and when we might use those strengths to help ourselves and others.

It has been a valuable unit of the Respectful Relationships program to start our year with. Students have worked with others throughout and enjoyed opportunities to work with peers that they may not have known well at the beginning of the year.
