Foundation News

Buddies

Foundation children are paired up with Year 6 buddies. The buddies look out for the Foundation children around the school and in the yard. Last week our fabulous Year 6 buddies surprised the Foundation students with special games they spent time creating. Students also had the opportunity to practice their Independent Reading together and finished the week off with a Ball Sports practice lesson. Thank you to our wonderful Year 6 buddies for being so helpful and making our Foundation children feel so welcome at Miners Rest Primary School.

Two-dimensional Shapes

Last week, Foundation children were learning about shapes. They were learning to identify shapes, sort shapes, find shapes in their environment and describe shapes. Children spent time playing shape bingo, going on shape hunts, doing shape sorts, making a 'shape pizza' and creating their own shape monster. It would be great if families could reinforce this learning at home by finding shapes around the house or in the car on the way to school. 'Shape I Spy' is a great place to start!

Congratulations!

Congratulations to all of our Foundation children on such a successful first term of school. We are so proud of how well each of you have settled in and how much you have achieved already. We are so excited to watch you all continue to grow next term!
