The Big Science Competition is running again in 2023!

A 50-minute, multiple choice competition testing science knowledge, critical-thinking and problem-solving skills. The questions are set in real-life, contemporary contexts, making them relatable (and interesting)!

The Big Science Competition is a way to challenge students from Years 7 to 10

All students will receive a certificate indicating their performance.

Sitting the Big Science Competition could lead to selection in science extension programs including the Australian Science Olympiads and Curious Minds – girls in STEM.

For more information visit: https://www.asi.edu.au/asi_program/big-science-competition/ or visit Ms Green in E11.

If students wish to participate, they need to complete this MS Form by the end of today to register their interest and consent to be adding to a Compass Event and Payment: https://forms.office.com/r/3arqW8SYYN

This week in Year 7 Science

This week in science we did an experiment to learn whether or not the concentration of acid contributed to the number of bubbles made. In these photos we can be seen testing this by adding bicarb soda to differing concentrations of acid and recording the results in our practical booklets.

Using the information gathered from the experiment, we concluded that the concentration of acid directly affected the level of bubbles with the higher concentration producing more bubbles.
