Vermont Secondary College

WELCOME TO NEW COLLEGE COUNCIL MEMBERS FOR 2023

I thank the members of College Council who are continuing in their role and those retiring and also welcome the new members and thank them for forwarding their nomination. 

VSC held its first Council meeting with the new representatives this week on Tuesday evening. Thank you to all who were able to attend and at this meeting the following office bearers were appointed.

President: Chirag Patel

Vice-President: Kathlyn Moynihan

Treasurer: Kate Norman

 

Congratulations on these appointments and we look forward to another productive year.

 

VSC Council comprises four groups:

Parents (6), Department of Education & Training (DET) employees (5), students (2) and community members (co-opted up to 4).

 

The term of office is two years, half the members must retire each year, and this creates vacancies for the annual school election.

 

Nominations for College Council closed at 4:00pm on Friday 10th March 2023

Parents: There were three parent vacancies - 2 parent representatives for the next 2 years, 2023-2024, and one parent representative for one-year 2023.

 

Congratulations to Chirag Patel and Patrick Jackson duly elected for the next 2 years (2023 – early 2025). 

Congratulations also to Kate Norman duly elected to the one-year vacancy (2023 – to early 2024) 

Kathlyn Moynihan, Frank Drost and Jasmine Majidi have 1 year of their 2-year term remaining

Staff: Congratulations to Flora Moraitis and Kelly Stals duly elected for the next 2 years (2023 – to early 2025). 

Congratulations also to Chris Paragreen duly elected to the one-year vacancy (2023 – to early 2024). 

Mary Zervos has 1 year of her 2-year appointment (2023/2024) to complete.

Student Representatives – Congratulations to Triyana Kewada duly elected for the next 2 years (2023 – 2024) while Heidi Ma has 1 year of her 2-year term remaining.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR STUDENT LEADERS FOR 2023

I would like to formally introduce the Student Leaders for 2023 at Vermont Secondary College in Years 7 through to Year 12. 

Well done to our selected Student Leaders and I look forward to working with you over the year and I thank you in anticipation of your significant contribution to the college year.

 

From the six House Captains we select the two School Captains each year. 

Congratulations to Alex Lee and Freya Sutanto, both from Stirling, for being selected as the 2023 Vermont Secondary College School Captains.

REMINDER – UPCOMING PUBLIC HOLIDAY & END OF TERM ARRANGEMENTS 2023

 

  1. Cycle 1 Reports Released to Families and SPC bookings opened at 6pm Friday 31 of March.
  2. Student Progress Conferences (SPC) online starting at 1.00pm until 8.00pm on Wednesday 5th of April. Formal classes are not running. 
  3. Term One concludes on Thursday 6th of April with a 2:30pm dismissal time. Friday the 7th of April is a public holiday for Good Friday.
  4. Students return in Term Two on Wednesday 26th of April. Monday 24th of April is a Staff Professional Practice Day, therefore pupil free. Tuesday the 25th of April is a public holiday for ANZAC Day.
