Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

As we head towards the end of term one and reflect back over the year so far, it has been a very exciting and busy term.  From welcoming our preps for their first day of school, to celebrating the announcement of our school leaders. From welcoming parents to a fantastic Harmony Day parade to completing NAPLAN for grades 3 and 5. Every week has brought with it some sort of adventure, excitement, challenge or presentation.

An important aspect to our work last week was welcoming a panel of reviewers to Mackellar Primary School to join our school council president and school leaders in commencing our school review. In addition to department staff, we were also joined by the principal of Kings Park Primary School, Jodi Park and the principal of Keilor Primary School Gerard Lucas for the first of four days of review. We spent the day observing classrooms, reviewing data and the panel spent time discussing the school with a range of students. We will welcome the team back next term as we continue the process towards developing our next four year plan for the school.

This week Rebecca West will be finishing up her time at Mackellar for the time being as she prepares to welcome a new addition to her ever growing family. Beck is a much loved staff member at the school who, whilst doing perhaps the most important job in the world at home, will be sorely missed at school until her return in due course. We wish her and her family all the best for this pending arrival.

For those families currently participating in Ramadan, we trust this is a special and spiritual time for you and we wish you the very best for the upcoming Eid al-Fitr. For those families preparing to celebrate Easter, we likewise hope this too is a special and spiritual time for you all as you prepare for Easter Sunday and all that this day brings with it.

With Easter fast approaching, we will be holding our Easter Bonnet Parade this Thursday first thing in the morning. Parents are most welcome to join us for this parade.

For us all, I hope everyone has a restful and energising break ready to take on what is always a very busy, and exciting term two.  Until then happy holidays.  With term one concluding on Thursday of this week, please take note of the earlier finish time of 2:30pm. TheirCare will be available from this time should you require care.

Kind Regards,

Simon McGlade
