Huggy Wuggy Toys

We have started to see students bring in Huggy Wuggy toys and I wanted to ensure that parents and carers are aware that these toys are not as innocent as they may sound.

Content featuring the "sinister online character" has made its way "into children's mainstream content" on social media and gaming platforms, where it is accompanied by horror-themed imagery including pools of blood.

"Huggy Wuggy, a blue teddy bear who sings songs about hugging and killing people, is appearing across TikTok, Roblox and Minecraft." Originating from an online adult horror game, Poppy Playtime, the bear sounds innocent but is not.

I don't want our young, vulnerable students getting upset at school so am asking that your child leaves their toy at home.

Information about ABSTUDY support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander high school students

We’d like to ensure families know about how ABSTUDY can help support high school students. This includes families whose children are living at home and may not know they’re eligible. When students live at home, eligible families can get support with school fees and school materials like uniforms, textbooks and stationery.

It’s not too late to claim ABSTUDY support for the 2023 school year.
