Student Engagment

Anson Street School students had the unique opportunity of heading behind the scenes at Philip Shaw wineries to label the fruits of their labour. School staff and students were joined by representatives from Philip Shaw and Dan Murphy's to apply the finishing touch to Anson Farm's first vintage - 2022 Tempranillo Rosé.

It's a long journey from vine to vino and Dan Shaw from the acclaimed Philip Shaw Wines has offered incredible insight and resources into helping us attain a successful vintage from our crop. Dan and his team (including the vineyard dogs) greeted our students with big smiles and a lot of work to do.

Students were tasked with getting labels in just the right spot and made short work of over 300 bottles through teamwork, communication, delegation and some ingenious 'hacks' to make sure their work was absolutely perfect. The team from both Dan Murphy's and Philip Shaw were very impressed with our student's efforts - a few of them said that we were quicker (and quieter) than the machine they usually use!

As a job-well-done, students were treated to a drop of (non-alcoholic and unfermented) sauvignon blanc grape juice which was delicious and sweet.

All in all, it was a sensational day out at the vineyard, the tasks really showcased the talent and teamwork our students have. Brilliant work, everyone!
