VCAL

We have again hit the ground running this past fortnight in VCAL!

In The Classroom

Both Year 11 and 12 students have been busily preparing for Shrove (Pancake) Tuesday on 25 February. This has largely been a numeracy activity where they have been working with Mrs Felicia Limogiannis to collect, collate and analyse information that will help them work out how much of what ingredients to purchase for the day.

Students are wholly responsible for the planning and delivery of the event including carrying out risk assessments, conducting surveys, investigating recipes and more.  On the day, students will be selling pancakes to the College community as a fundraiser for Caritas.

Structured Workplace Learning (SWL)

Students have commenced their SWL placements and are seeking out extracurricular and volunteer opportunities to increase their hours.

I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank the many employers who have agreed to take on our students to support their classroom learning with real world learning. These employers have agreed to support our students by mentoring them in the workplace.

Students this year are studying a wide range of courses including:

  • Allied Health
  • Animal Studies
  • Beauty Services
  • Building and Construction
  • Early Childhood Education and Care
  • Fitness
  • Hairdressing
  • Kitchen Operations
  • Laboratory Skills
  • Sport and Recreation

Some students are still seeking placements in the Animal and Hospitality (Kitchen) industries. If you are able to provide these students with any opportunities then please contact me at the College on 95817766

In addition, our Year 12 VCAL students are undertaking a Certificate II Active Volunteering. These students are required to complete 20 hours of volunteering this year. If you know of any volunteering opportunities or places where our students can help out then again, please contact me at the College.
