Aladdin Jr

Congratulations to all students who recently auditioned for the Kilbreda College Junior production of ‘Aladdin Jr’.  The cast list will be available in the next few days.

Auditions can be nerve wracking and frightening and the audition panel were impressed with the courage and confidence shown by students and the incredible array of talent displayed.

Unfortunately, not all who auditioned will be successful.  Each production is different and decisions are made based on specific criteria, particular to the show.

On behalf of the production team, I would like to thank all those brave students who auditioned and encourage those not successful to try again next year and take advantage of the many other wonderful Performing Arts activities on offer at the College.

Instrumental Music

The Instrumental Music program is up and running with ensembles and bands starting this week.

The Instrumental Music Information Evening on Wednesday 12 February was very well attended with approximately 50 Year 7 students enrolling to learn an instrument, including singing. Instruments selected have ranged from violin to tuba!  We can’t wait to have our Year 7 musicians come together in our first Junior Orchestra rehearsal on 13 March.

Students at any level are always welcome to take up an instrument at Kilbreda and join an ensemble.

Our Instrumental Music Tutors are not only experienced teachers but also very talented musicians.  Each newsletter we will feature one of our Music Tutors in ‘Meet the Music Tutor’.

Meet the Music Tutor - Grace Sabbatucci

Grace Sabbatucci is one of our popular Voice Tutors and a past pupil of the College. She was College Captain in 2011 and was an enthusiastic and dedicated Performing Arts student studying VCE Drama, Theatre Studies and Music. She also performed in many of our College productions, playing the lead role of Peggy Sawyer in ‘42nd Street’.

Since graduating from Kilbreda, Grace completed a Bachelor of Music Theatre at Ballarat Arts Academy.  During her education at the Arts Academy, Grace also wrote and performed her Cabaret, ‘Playing to Win’ and was selected to perform an additional season at the Ballarat Cabaret Festival.

After completing her studies, Grace spent two years as a vocal specialist at the Centre for Musical Arts in Dubai, teaching singing to people of all ages from around the world. Grace performed in Windmill Theatre Company’s, ‘We Will Rock You’, for which she received a Music Theatre Guild Commendation. She recently played the lead role of Sophie in the PLOS production of ‘Mamma Mia’ and later this year, Grace will perform with PLOS in ‘Hello Dolly’ as Minnie Fay.

Grace looks forward to teaching at our College this year and hopes to continue to bring her love of singing to students of all ages.
