Year 8 Technology Bluetooth Boombox Unit

At the end of last term, following on from last year, we further developed our Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop skills in the production of Bluetooth Boomboxes.

After we Laser Cut our BoomBox cases and etched the designs into them, we 'dry assembled' the overall pieces to check that our designs would work. After that we went into the workshop to put the Boombox together.

We learnt new skills such as how to glue the Boombox together with quick release clamps and vices and how to use the rivet gun (a lot of muscle was needed to use these!).

Everyone had customised designs and some students glued some cut out wood or acrylic to their Boombox to give it their own unique personal look. We then learned how to connect the Bluetooth receiver to our phone and play music through it.

We think that this unit of work was a great success and we think we can speak for everyone in our class when we say that it was interesting and fun from learning new skills to building on those we learnt last year.
