Creative Writing

Stage 2 Students Get Creative!

Stage 2 are exploring the theme of ‘Friendship’ in English this term. Students were tasked with writing a story about some friends exploring the local area they live in, it could be fictional or based on real life.

Following the two stories published in last week Pulse (from our Stage 2 Cherries class), here are two more stories, this time from our Stage 2 Strawberries class:

GOING TO THE OLYMPICS

Today, me and my BFF Abbie got a letter from the Olympics and it said ‘You have been chosen to come to the Olympic games.’ We were so excited, we packed our bags and hopped on a plane and went on our way to the Olympics in Tokyo.

We arrived late in the morning and we were pooped, so we checked in to our hotel, unpacked and had a nap. Two hours later it was lunch time. We went down stairs and got a waft of something delicious. Then we saw a wonderful sight: an all you can eat buffet and a sushi bar. We ate all of it!

Then it was time for the games so off we went. Ten minutes later, we were there and it was so exciting, we could not stand it! Oh, did I mention our sport is basketball and it is amazing. We love it so much.

The games began…    We realised we were playing the best team in history… ‘oh no’ I thought and I could tell Abbie and all of my teammates were thinking the same thing. ‘We will try our best’ I said. Then something unexpected happened, the best player passed to one of our players and then again and again.  We were all confused but then I cracked the code, Bob [the best player] and Sam [in our team], are brothers! I told all our team mates. Amazingly we won first place and all got gold medals!! But I felt bad because they helped us win so I said to the judge can the Pigs [The best team] get a fair play award and I told him the whole story. He was surprised because the Pigs normally cheat, but he said “yes, they can get the fair play award”. At the end of the day we went home with a gold medal and were exhausted.

The end.

BEING RESILIENT

My name is Ted and I was scared of going on ziplines.

I recall going to Shoalhaven Heads when I was 6.  We went to Tree Tops. I was scared when I walked up the plank onto the first platform.  I got through the first couple of obstacles and then I made it to the first ziplines.

My mum was on the floor and keeping me company. I wanted to turn back but there was another kid behind me so I couldn’t turn back. I was forced to do the zipline so I clipped my harness on and took a big breath. I leaped onto the platform gliding along the rail safely landing and finishing the course! That is my recount of Tree Tops. Now I’m not afraid of ziplines and that comes to show if you try something you are scared of maybe you will love it.
