Principal's Update

Many thanks to all staff and families for their support with transitioning to remote learning this week. It has been great to hear how students are engaging with learning activities and we really appreciate everyone’s assistance in supporting students to access learning activities.

While I am aware that there have been a few issues with connectivity, it has been pleasing to hear that many of our students have enjoyed catching up with their teachers and peers on Webex meetings.  To assist families with managing their timetables, Heather has included a schedule of meetings on the next page.

Teachers will also be sending out information on SeeSaw, so please check this for further details.

As all schools are required to report student’s daily attendance throughout remote learning, teachers are taking roll call each morning via SeeSaw.  While we understand that some families may not be completing learning tasks in the mornings, our attendance needs to be completed before 10.30am.  Students who have not been responded to the roll call will be marked as absent without explanation, resulting in a message being sent from Compass.  If, for any reason your child is not able to participate in learning on a particular day, please submit an absence note on Compass.

Tomorrow, we will have another ‘drive-by’ collection of learning materials.  Where possible, please attend during the following times, according to your child’s surname: A-M 2.00 – 2.30pm and N-Z 2.30 – 3.00pm.  Please also return any readers that have been sent home at this time.

Many thanks to Chaye from Netball Victoria for her support in the delivery of Netball Clinics. Our students have had a great time participating!

While we are no longer able to complete a mini-Hoppet as a whole school, families who registered for this opt-in event on Compass are still able to join in the fun!  Buffs, race numbers and stickers for these students will be included with this week’s learning pack.  If you would like to share some photos and/or register your child's time (in HH:MM:SS) please send these to mount.beauty.ps@education.vic.gov.au

If you can't make the drive-by you can also access your child's race number and bib here by searching under their name.

As announced, COVID 19 vaccines are now available for individuals aged 16 and above.  An immunisation clinic is now operating on Wednesdays and Thursdays at the Lakeside Community Care Building (opposite the fire station) in Mount Beauty  and bookings can be made online.  For bookings, visit the coronavirus.vic.gov.au or contact the Coronavirus hotline by phoning 1800 675 398.

A big thank you to Mount Beauty Foodworks and everyone who has donated points to the school.  As a result, this month we have received a Spirit of Community donation for $544.08, which will go towards investing in school resources.

We look forward to seeing you at the ‘drive-by’ tomorrow!
