Principal's Message

Congratulations to the Emus for their fantastic assembly item at last week's assembly, and to Mrs Andony and Mr Mihal for their organisation of the performance.

On Friday 20 August, Mr Tomlinson and Mrs Barrow took our school choir of around 25 students to One Big Voice, held at the Arena in Perth. This was a great opportunity to showcase some of the great talents we have at Marangaroo, with the students representing the school with pride. Congratulations to the students for a great performance, and to Mr Tomlinson for organising and coordinating this wonderful event for the students.

A huge thanks to our fantastic P&C for putting on the Father's Day Stall last week. We're so grateful for all the work they do. Some of our staff organised a Father's Day breakfast this morning, which I am told was a great success. It was great to hear that we had so many fathers, grandfathers, uncles and male role models being able to come along for this event. Well done to all the staff involved. I was disappointed to have been unable to attend, but I had my 'Dad hat' on this morning, celebrating Father's Day with my own daughter at her school. I wish all the Marangaroo Dads and carers a happy Father's Day for this Sunday.

With the rainy weather today, we had to postpone the jumps and throws events of our faction carnival. This will now take place next Tuesday 7 September. The carnival will go ahead this Friday as originally planned, however we will hold off presentations until next Tuesday, once we have all the points in from both days. Mr Mihal will send out a Dojo message to invite parents along to the presentation next Tuesday, so look out for that. If anyone is able to donate cakes, slices, muffins, etc. for the canteen to sell at the carnival this Friday, they would be gratefully accepted. Donations can be delivered Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. Please include a list of ingredients.  We look forward to seeing those who can make it along to the carnival on Friday.

With only a few weeks remaining in the term, I would like to remind everyone that starting the first day back of Term Four, Tuesday 12 October, if a student is not wearing a sun-smart hat (wide-brimmed or legionnaire), they will not be able to play in the sun. This means that caps will no longer be accepted in the playground. The P&C have some great new sun smart hats for sale if anyone still needs to purchase one.
