Victorian Pathway Certificate

Victorian Pathway Certificate (VPC)

The Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) is a new flexible foundation secondary course designed for a small number of students in Years 11 and 12 to support students in their schooling and assist them in transitioning to full time employment, an apprenticeship, TAFE or into VCE or VM (Vocational Major).

In many schools, VPC will be taught within the VM class however, at Wantirna, we have decided to have a dedicated class just for VPC students.

After two weeks of classes, our VPC students are kicking goals and we couldn’t be prouder of them. Their engagement in the class is outstanding with many students expressing how much they’re enjoying the class and their teachers.

This morning I visited the Period 1 class as they were dismantling lawn mower engines, sketching the parts and writing assembly instructions before reassembling them. When asking them about the class, I was impressed with their answers:

'I really like coming to school, this class is really good'

I've not missed a day…’

'Love it, it's cool doing this stuff.'
