Parents Association Update

It’s amazing how quickly the first weeks of school have gone past and we hope the kids are settling well into their new classes. Huge congratulations to all the students who competed in the Holt District swimming competition this week, and to St James who did so well to win the overall competition.

The kids celebrated Pancake Day on Tuesday and a huge thanks to Mel Fuller who coordinated the day and to all the other parents that helped, including Adrian & Alicia Quattrone, Chantal Horton, Meg Donoghue, Adriana & Justin Verdini. These are special events for the kids and would not happen without you.

PARENTS ASSOCIATION (PA) VOLUNTEERS FOR NEXT YEAR

Thank-you to all the parents that have volunteered for roles this year, it is greatly appreciated.

The PA exists to create a sense of community through social and fundraising events which relies on parents volunteering to make it work.

Given the importance of these events to building and maintaining a sense of school belonging for parents and children, events will be allocated to year levels as per previous years to allow time for planning. We have tried to be as fair as possible with the allocations, weighing up resources and experience.  It is hoped this system will help to share the load, create new friendships and enrich everyone's school experience.

Once we have the organisers for each event, a “signup.com” can be created to find other volunteers for the event if needed.

For all the events, we have a wealth of past information available and we are all here to help you.  Please find a list of the allocated year levels below:

LUNCH ORDERS ONLINE FROM 2023

We hope that all the lunch orders are going well. It’s so great that it is now online and no more paper bags.  It's important to note that our lunch orders come from Star of the Sea college (Star) next door and if they are closed for a day then there will be no lunch orders for St James. We had a minor hiccup the other week when lunches were ordered and unfortunately Star was closed for the day. Closure days have now been blocked in the flexischool app to avoid this happening again. But please make sure you also make note of the days the canteen is unavailable so there are no surprises.

Canteen Closures Dates: Friday February 24th | Wednesday March 22nd

THANKS FROM THE PA

We are very grateful for the continued support of all our parents, the school and local  community.  All our PA members are volunteers who generously give up their own time to organise our school events.

Contributions from our fundraising efforts will be put towards many areas across the school.  Some initial ideas that have strong support from the PA group and school community are 1) Improving school security 2) Retractable cafe style blinds for the exterior of the undercover area so it can be used during hot or wet days.
