Welcome Back!

  Mrs Hall and Ms Bates are so excited to be back and are looking forward to spending the year with these lovely Grade Two students. Please read on to see an overview of our learning for this term.

The Year Two students have been settling in well, completing lots of different activities including MAB, pattern making, writing about their holiday highlights, enjoying hands-on Maths activities, writing stories, choosing just right books for independent reading and so much more!

Overview of Inquiry - Term One 2022

Inquiry

In our Term one Inquiry Unit 'Paddock to Plate' students will explore the needs of living things and where our food comes from. They will examine what plants and animals are farmed for our food and other materials. They will also investigate how plants grow and what their needs are by nurturing a cos lettuce to grow for food.

Students will describe the process involved in getting our foods from farms to the supermarket. They will consider features and uses of some technologies to grow and prepare food. They learn will learn how to recognise the tools, techniques and resources to grow foods from seeds.

Take Home Readers

Take home readers have commenced. As part of InitiaLit-2, students have free-choice of short and extended chapter books to take home and read. Year Two students are able to choose up to four readers from school to take home and read nightly. Students in Year Two are also free to choose books from home to read each night if they wish. Students who choose their readers on a Monday are required to return them the following Monday. After reading, please record the name of the book in the InitiaLit Home Reading Diary for the day.
