Out and About

Mountain Bike Team

Our newly formed MTB team competed in the Victorian Interschool Cycling Series (VICS MTB) at Dromana Secondary College on Sunday 25 June.  Our nine riders, ranging from first time racers to seasoned competitors, did outstandingly.  Special mention to Oliver Beaumont (U17 Race), Archie Chester (U15 Race) and Kaelah Elvish (U19 Novice) who all won their divisions, and Charlotte Beaumont (U15 Novice) and Millie Chester (U15 Race) who came second.  At the end of Round One FHS is sitting at the top of the Secondary School Competition!  Next round is at Lysterfield on the Commonwealth Games track.  Special thanks to Mr Joe Russo of Core Fitness for sponsoring jerseys for the team!  The team will be looking sharp at the State Finals at Bendigo!

Hands On Learning Team

During the final week of Term 2 the enthusiastic team of students from Hands On Learning Frankston High School competed in the annual State Billy Cart tournament in the hills of Officer. Students from both groups spent many weeks constructing and designing their cart to race and compete against other schools.  It is a great achievement for the students to have won best Cart Design and Construction, as this cemented their name on the wall for future Hands On Learning students to envy. Well done to all students and staff members involved.

Choir Performance

Frankston High School’s musicians have again made their mark, performing on a Friday night bill supporting the local Frankston Choir of Hard Knocks.  Our students not only performed beautifully – a magical set from the clarinet group,

a riveting performance of Nora Jones “I Don’t Know” by Chloé Chiappa (Year 11), and a beautifully diverse collection of songs from the spectacular vocal ensemble – but made us all so proud with the way they supported the Choir of Hard Knocks and everything they stand for.  These students, along with their teachers, Mr Peter Sharp, Ms Sally Bredin and Ms Peta Laughlin, are an absolute inspiration for all of us.
