Principal's Report - Mr Pitt

Dear Parents/ Carers,

STUDENT NUMBERS

As you know, last Monday afternoon we formed 2023 classes. We have 21 classes in 2023, with 509 students enrolled at the school. This is very close to what we expected, but it was still important to make sure we knew how many students were enrolled before we formed classes. History tells me that this model works best. Please find information regarding 2023 class names and staff roles in my Principal’s Report.

BEING COVID-SMART

Our school will continue to operate with baseline COVID-smart measures in place this term to minimise transmission. Most importantly, stay home if unwell and test for COVID-19 if members of the family are showing any symptoms. If you require additional RATs, please contact the office.

BIKE VISITS WITH MR PITT

This week I have visited (and survived on my bike) some of our special staff at Fairvale PS – our very important staff in non-teaching positions. These people ensure our school is well organised, safe and friendly. Check out some of the photos in this edition of the newsletter.

NEW SECTIONS TO THE NEWSLETTER

We have created two exciting new pages to the newsletter. This year our school captains Aidan and Maria will have their very own page in the newsletter - ‘6 Questions with Aiden and Maria’. Every week they will interview staff and publish their responses in the newsletter. We will also have a ‘National Parks Focus Page’ - here you learn more about National Parks, laugh at Miss Fletcher’s jokes and see if you can crack my bushwalking problems - there’s even a chance to win a free canteen lunch! Check out these two pages in this edition of the newsletter.

MEET THE TEACHER AFTERNOON

Our planned Meet the Teacher afternoons will be going ahead in 2023. On Monday, the note was sent home with information regarding the meetings and instructions on how to enrol. If you need assistance, please visit the office and someone will assist you. During your allocated time, teachers will talk about learning programs and general class information, as well as the ‘Two stars and a wish’ sheet for families to complete and return to school at interview time.  If you are unable to attend on the scheduled day, please contact your child’s teacher for an alternate day/ time.

2023 CLASSES

This year our classes are named after National Parks. National Parks are places set aside by a National Government for the preservation of the natural environment - supporting landscapes, plants and wildlife. National Parks can be located all over the world, with many set aside for public recreation and enjoyment. The children will be learning more about National Parks in class time. When writing your child’s name for different things you can still use the initial of the class. For example, Mrs Jewo’s class is called 5 Marramarra. You can still write 5M

REPEATED: REMINDERS TO START THE YEAR

We are just about over the busiest time of the year, so I thought it was important to remind families of a few important issues—updating of details, family court matters and allergies/ medications. You will find information regarding these issues on the last page of the newsletter.

REPEATED: STAY HOME IF YOU ARE SICK

All adults on site will be healthy and ready to work and we expect the same from our children and their families. If children are unwell at school, you or your nominated emergency contact will need to collect them immediately. Please make sure your contact details are up to date. Check out the link below.

Premier’s Back to School NSW program to get your kids ready for back to school

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we prepare for another year of learning in 2023, you can now apply for the Premier’s Back to School NSW program, offering $150 worth of vouchers (3 x $50 vouchers) to help pay for school supplies like school uniforms, shoes, bags, textbooks and stationery.

Every primary and secondary school student in NSW is eligible for the vouchers.

You can apply for and access your vouchers in your MyServiceNSW account, in the Service NSW app, by calling Service NSW on 137788 or by visiting your local Service Centre External Link.

To be eligible, your child needs to be a NSW resident and enrolled in a NSW primary or secondary school in 2023.
