MELODY MESSENGER (INTERN)
What is your new role at BHCS and what are you excited about this year? I'm an intern this year at BHCS working in the primary school, predominantly as a classroom aid! I'm so excited to get to know everyone better and learn heaps about teaching!
What did you do previously? I was a student at BHCS, finishing two years ago in 2021. Since then, I've been doing my Bachelor of Primary Teaching at ACU! Work wise, I've been babysitting, working at Grill'd and working at CYC doing admin at various points throughout the year.
What do you like to do for fun? I love reading and will read pretty much anything anyone suggests! I've have just picked up Irish dancing again after a few years of not doing it, which is so fun! I also love going on walks with friends and catching up for coffee!
CATHERINE WYLIE (MIDDLE SCHOOL LEARNING ASSISTANT)
What is your new role at BHCS and what are you excited about this year?
My new role at BHCS is as a Learning Assistant in the Middle School, largely with Year 9. I am excited to build good relationships with students and help them develop and grow not just academically but also within themselves. One thing I'm passionate about is that they will all know how unique and precious each one of them is and not to compare themselves with others. This will give them a stronger foundation as they go forward and it will help them when they encounter tough things in life. I'm also looking forward to working with and building relationships with staff who also are passionate about these things. I am also excited to work at BHCS because the vision and ethos of the school aligns strongly with my values.
What did you do previously?
Previously I worked for 10 years as a Learning Assistant at Mount Evelyn Christian School. The first year in a Year 5/6 composite class and the rest in Middle School.
What do you like to do for fun?
Some of the things I enjoy doing are dancing, reading (when I get time), getting into nature, spending time with friends/family, and various games.
ANTONIA CHANEY (SECONDARY ART TEACHER)
What is your new role at BHCS and what are you excited about this year? This year I will be teaching Year 7 Art, some of the Year 8 Art classes, Year 10 Art and Year 10 Ceramics. I am excited about becoming part of the BHCS community and encouraging students to enjoy the amazing world of art.
What did you do previously?
I previously taught Art and Primary Mathematics at Mountain District Christian School.
What do you like to do for fun?
I enjoy working on ceramics, knitting crochet and generally making ‘things’.
JAMES MATHEWS (ENVIROMENTAL STUDIES TEACHER)
What is your new role at BHCS and what are you excited about this year?
I am teaching Environmental Studies from Prep to Year 6 and Outdoor Education for Years 7 and 10 this year. Things that I am looking forward to are; learning by the creek, planting in the garden and taking students on Outdoor Education trips.
What did you do previously?
I was a Year 2 & Year 6 classroom teacher at Wyndham Christian College.
What do you like to do for fun?
I like to spend my time trail running, rock climbing and many other outdoor adventure activities with my wife and two daughters.
ELLE CHUNG (SECONDARY TEACHER)
What is your new role at BHCS and what are you excited about this year?
I am teaching Maths to secondary students and I am also the learning leader of Mathematics.
I am looking forward to being part of the BHCS community and share the love of Maths with everyone!
What did you do previously?
I majored in Maths and then taught Maths at a secondary school for 4 years before coming to BHCS.
What do you like to do for fun?
I enjoy sketching little things on paper and on digital devices from time to time.
But recently, I've been climbing very actively at indoor climbing gyms!
ARIEL GRUBER (INTERN)
What is your new role at BHCS and what are you excited about this year?
I am an intern working in primary art and performing arts.
What did you do previously?
I was a student here and BHCS and graduated in 2022.
What do you like to do for fun?
For fun I like to sing, dance, play characters and spend time with my friends.
