INGRID SCHEEPERS ( SECONDARY TEACHER)

 

What is your new role at BHCS and what are you excited about this year? 

My new role at BHCS is secondary school teacher, where I will be taking a Year 7 Homeroom as well as Year 7 Drama and Year 7, 11 & 12 English. I'm most looking forward to getting to know the community of BHCS this year!

 

What did you do previously? I have just graduated from Monash University, where I studied a Bachelor of Arts and Secondary Education. I also completed my Honours degree in Literature in 2021, where I specialised in fairy tale retellings. 

 

What do you like to do for fun? For fun, I like to read, watch movies and television shows. I am also an avid crocheter and I love to cross-stitch, too!

 

 

SARAH SWEENEY (PRIMARY ART TEACHER)

 

What is your new role at BHCS and what are you excited about this year? 

My role this year is Prep-Year 2 Art Teacher. I am really excited to be engaging the children in many creative experiences and teaching them new skills and techniques.  I am excited to be supporting the children's wonderful imagination and creative expression.

 

What did you do previously?

 In the past I have had many teaching roles in a variety of kindergartens and schools. In the last five years I have been very blessed to be part of the amazing BHCS community in a variety of roles such as Learning Assistant, tutoring and casual relief teacher.

 

What do you like to do for fun?

I love spending time with my beautiful family. We enjoy walking and playing with our puppy, forest walks, bike rides and going to the beach. I also enjoy catching up with friends, shopping and going to the movies.

 

 

ROWAN WALKER (YEAR 8 CO-ORDINATOR & SECONDARY TEACHER) 

 

What is your new role at BHCS and what are you excited about this year?

 

I am joining BHCS as the Year 8 Coordinator and will also be working with the Year 11 and 12 VCE VM Students. I am excited to have the opportunity to work with the amazing team as we encourage our students in their personal and educational development.

 

What did you do previously?

I have spent the last two years teaching Year 11 and 12 VCAL at Ranges TEC and before that I was teaching Secondary English and Humanities at Chairo Christian School in Leongatha where I also had the privilege of being a Coordinator.

 

What do you like to do for fun?

For fun, or simply to relax and unwind, I can often be found either on a golf course or cycling and mountain biking with friends.

 

 

COURTNEY WHITE (SECONDARY TEACHER) 

What is your new role at BHCS and what are you excited about this year? 

 

I will be working mainly in Middle School along with some Senior Drama. I am so excited to see students having lots of fun whilst flourishing in their learning, particularly in Drama. 

 

What did you do previously?

I've just completed a year of teaching at another local Christian school. Prior to that, I worked at BHCS for 11 years moving from Integration, the Office and First Aid, and then Chaplaincy.

 

What do you like to do for fun?

I like to go to the Hot Springs and relax. When I get the time, I also love to Stand Up Paddle board.

 

 

SALLY LEONG (YEAR 1 TEACHER) 

 

What is your new role at BHCS and what are you excited about this year? 

I'm teaching Year 1 this year. I'm really excited to get to know the students and for all the exciting learning we're going to be doing together.

 

What did you do previously?

I've just finished studying my teaching degree at Deakin University last year. I've also been working with children in outside school hours care and as an English tutor during the last year. Before going back to study to be a teacher, I worked in news and communications for around 5 years.

 

What do you like to do for fun?

I love singing and playing piano for fun, as well as exploring new places. I'm hoping to be able to do some more travel later in the year. I also really enjoy going for walks out in nature.

 

 

RON DE GROOT (BUS DRIVER/MAINTENANCE & GROUNDS)

 

What is your new role at BHCS and what are you excited about this year? 

My role here is Bus Driver, maintenance and grounds man. I also look forward to learning everybody’s names by the end of this year.

 

What did you do previously?

I worked at Mountain District Christian School for the last 21 years as a bus driver and cleaner. 

 

What do you like to do for fun?

I love running and also cycling road and trail.
