CHARLOTTE GRAZIANO (YEAR 12) - ACC LETTERS

Congratulations to Charlotte Graziano (Year 12 Barlow) who was presented with her ACC Letters for Basketball at yesterday's Whole School Assembly. Charlotte is the first ever student from Sacred Heart to receive ACC Letters for a team sport.

An ACC Letters Award is the highest individual accolade presented by the association. The award recognises a student’s sustained excellence in sport, making them part of a very distinguished club of athletes.

ACC Letters is presented to any student that is selected in a Swimming, Athletics or Cross country All Stars Team for their age group for at least four years; or selected in an Open All Stars team sport, such as Basketball, Netball or AFLW for at least three years.

It should be noted that to qualify for an All Stars Team you have to be elite in the sporting field of choice across 90 ACC member schools and approximately 58,000 students across WA.

To be selected once as an All Star is a great achievement, but to do this for three years or more is truly epic and deserves special recognition. Such achievements require not only talent, but incredible commitment, effort and perseverance.

Below are some of Charlotte's achievements in basketball over her high school years:

  • Charlotte has been involved in NAS Basketball for most of her years at Sacred Heart and was part of the Premiership Super Series Basketball team when she was in Year 7.
  • Charlotte attended the U14 Club Nationals and has been a member of the U16, U18 and this year, the U20 WA State team. She has also been a member of the State Performance Program for the past four years.
  • Charlotte received the U16 WABL Club MVP and has been a contracted member of the Perry Lakes Senior Women's program (NBL1) for the past three years. She was also one of the youngest players to sign a contract for this league at only 15 years old.
  • Charlotte has been a member of the ACC All Stars Basketball team for the past three years and was a joint Captain last year in the Tri-Series between ACC, IGSSA and School Sport WA.

The self-discipline required for Charlotte’s training schedule is truly impressive. I have no doubt that with her consistent, passionate and committed approach she will enjoy many more successes in her future. It is largely because of such qualities that Charlotte will have her name in Sacred Heart College and ACC Sport history forever.
