The Library is open & the children are enjoy visiting at first & second break. The children have fun reading, playing chess, drawing, writing & borrowing.

The opening days for students to come and enjoy some quiet time are:

K/1/5/6 First break (Recess) Monday and Thursday

2/3/4 Second Break (Lunch) Wednesday and Friday

CLASS BORROWING DAYS ARE:

Kindergarten Wednesday

Year 1 Friday

Year 2 Monday

Year 3 Friday

Year 4 Tuesday

Year 5 Friday

Year 6 Friday

Parents please make sure the students in K - 6 have a Library Bag on their borrowing days to take books home.

BOOK CLUB

Our first book club of the year is being distributed this week. Orders are placed online via the Parents Loop Section on the Scholastic website. The process is:-

Go to https://www.scholastic.com.au/
Click on SHOP along the top of the webpage
Choose LOOP(Parents)

Parents will need to register here and will then be able to order and pay online. We do NOT collect orders or money at school. PLEASE ensure whoever is registering and ordering includes the name of the student uses at school. Last year we had a couple of orders where alternate names were used and we did not know who to distribute the books to.

Once the Book Club ordering window closes (usually 2 weeks) all orders will be filled and sent to the school for distribution to the children.

PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE

Once again students will have the opportunity to complete the Premier's Reading Challenge.

The dates for 2023 are -

27 February 2023- challenge opens for student entries

Friday 18 August 2023 - challenge closes for student entries

Students are asked to let me know if they wish to participate this year and I will register them. Once registered they (or you) need to log in and complete their reading log.

Getting started with Sora

With Sora, you can get free ebooks and audiobooks from your school.

Step 1 ______________________________________________________

Install the Sora app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, or go to soraapp.com.

Step 2______________________________________________________

In Sora, click on I have a setup code, then sign in.

Note: If you need your sign-in information (like an ID, username, or password), it is the same one you use to log into your chromebook.

Sign into your School – Select your school - ACEN

Step 3______________________________________________________

Browse the

tab and borrow a book. Your book will open so you can start reading right away.

Step 4______________________________________________________

Close the book and go to

see all your books (including assignments). From there, you can:

Select Open book or Open audiobook to read or listen to the book.
Select Options to renew or return the book, see your notes and highlights, and more.

Premiers Reading Challenge Books can be found in Collections in folders marked NSW Premiers Reading Challenge K-2, NSW Premiers Reading Challenge 3-4, NSW Premiers Reading Challenge 5-6.
