WE LOVE BOOKS!

By Anita Little ( Discovery Centre Manager)

We love books in the Discovery Centre - big ones, small ones but especially student-created ones! Over the last two weeks, our Year 1 students have been busy writing, illustrating and publishing their own books under the guidance of their inspirational teachers. We are very excited that the Year 1s have loaned their hand-crafted storybooks to the DC for everyone to enjoy. Thank you, Year 1s - what a talented bunch of authors and illustrators you are!

YEAR 9/10 OUTDOOR EDUCATION HIKE

By Kenny Wong (Technology Coordinator)

On Thursday, 9th June, Mr Lobbe and I had the opportunity to take our Year 9/10 Outdoor Education students for a stroll in the Dandenong Ranges. We started our day in the rain at Puffing Billy Train Station in Belgrave. It was like a trip down memory lane for many of us to be on the train again; most of us haven't been on the train since we were allowed to sit on the rail with our feet hanging out!

We followed the Eastern Dandenong Ranges Trails to our destination of Gembrook. Students hiked through some of the best scenery our ranges has to offer; Emerald Lake and the Wright Forest. Along the way, we had a quick lunch and hot drinks in Cockatoo. Apart from having a great conversation, we also passed some moo-moo's and an oink-oink. Overall; yes, it was cold and wet, but it was a fun-filled experience.
