Turn Back Time

Do you recognise any of these items from the good old days, way back when???

Our juniors in LS1 had a great time this week trying to solve what these once common gadgets were used for. Some they were able to figure out while others were a little tricky. This was all part of the current inquiry/RE unit when our students explored Change & Continuity.

Our seniors in LS2 and our Juniors in LS2 had a joined expo. They shared their discoveries with one another from the colonial days back to life in Australia's early days. The juniors were able to share their family story and changes they have experienced. It was great to drop in and listen to some of the dialogue between seniors and juniors. In one such conversation, a junior was heard saying, " We have a new toaster." and the senior staying in character as a convict, replied,' You are so lucky, all we had today was a slice of stale bread." I loved the way they stayed in character and chatted to each other.

This has been an exciting unit for our children and lovely to see some of them arrive at school in either Colonial dress or in the national dress of their families as they shared their story. Each space went about learning in different ways as they explored change.

What a great way to end Term 2

Back to the Future!!!

Well the future is being developed before our eyes!! Here is an update of what we see this week with our future multi-purpose hall. Concrete is coming soon!!

Grandparents Day

Please save the date!!

We are going to have a grandparents morning on Monday 1st August from 10am to just after 12noon. There will be an Operoo out early next term so we can get an idea of numbers. We look forward to grandparents visiting the learning spaces to do some activities with our students, having a morning tea in the community room and joining the students for a special prayer of thanks to conclude the morning.

Sacred Heart, Sacred Hands

It was great to finally come together for a whole school Mass for the feast of the Sacred Heart on Wednesday. We were a few days early as the feast day falls on 24 June, our last day of school for Term 2. There was such a wonderful prayerful atmosphere across the entire school as the children actively joined in the Mass that was celebrated by Fr. Desmond. The choir were sensational and looked great in their choir uniform. Our children and families once again showed their passion and love for others by their generous donation of food for the needy. Our Mini Vinnies are to be commended for volunteering their time with Giuliana to promote the appeal and help in countless ways.

Special thanks to Rozeta for her coordination of our liturgy, Kristy for her work with the choir and Giuliana for her work with our mini Vinnies. I also thank our wonderful staff for all their work this term that ensures we provide the very BEST for our students at St Francis de Sales.
