Parents should be aware that if a student has a high level of absence from school and/or has completed a low proportion of the assessment program, the subject teacher will discuss the matter with the relevant Head of Learning Area to determine a fair and just course of action in terms of the allocation of a Semester mark and grade for the subject. If a student has completed a small proportion of the subject assessment program, it may not be possible to allocate a Semester mark or grade for that particular subject.
This week, an email went out to Year 10 parents and caregivers regarding the Semester Two Science Selection process. The Year 10 students will focus on two areas of Science for the remainder of the year. They can select from Biology, Chemistry, Human Biology, Physics or Psychology.
Year 10s are required to select their Science subject preferences for Semester Two using an online form. This form is now open and will close on Wednesday 22 June. If you need any further information, please contact Mr Ericius Tan, Head of Science on etan@sacredheart.wa.edu.au.
You can revisit my advice about keeping examinations in perspective below. Please remember that examination marks are not the only results taken into account when calculating marks and grades.
A reminder that students can receive credit towards the achievement of the WACE for participating in and completing Endorsed Programs. Students are requested to submit copies of Endorsed Program participation/completion to the staff in the Pastoral Care Centre (PCC) or myself directly via email (lcicchini@sacredheart.wa.edu.au) by Friday 29 July (Week 2, Term 3). If evidence of participation has previously been provided to the College, you are not required to provide the same evidence again, although you may wish to check this with me. Parents will soon receive a detailed letter in relation to Endorsed Programs.
