Our Years 10-12 Examination period has now concluded and students will start to receive their results. While speaking to our senior students, many are pleased with the outcome of their examinations, but there have been some disappointments. To feel disappointed is positive as it indicates that we want a better result. The challenge in moving forward is to use the examination results as a yardstick for what needs to happen as we approach Semester Two. Clearly, if we are disappointed with our results then we need to readjust our approach to our studies. The same approach will achieve the same results. I wish all our students, particularly our Year 12s as they move into their final Semester of education at Sacred Heart, all the best.
Earlier this year, I announced that our Community Relations and Marketing team were finalists in the 2022 Educate Plus International Awards, placing in the top three schools across Australia and New Zealand. I am delighted to inform you that Sacred Heart College has won the award in the Marketing Video category. This is an outstanding achievement, given the high standards from all entries across Australia and New Zealand. The Award winning nomination was for the personalised videos sent to each incoming Year 7 student prior to their Orientation.
Congratulations and well done to Head of Community Relations and Marketing, Mrs Narelle Burnett, Community Relations and Marketing Coordinator, Miss Natasha Camilleri and all involved in making this project possible.
Mr Paul Litherland will be addressing our Years 7 and 8 students next week on the theme of cyber safety. Paul, who was the Western Australian nomination for Australian of the Year in 2022, is a leading expert on internet awareness and safety. Paul educates students, parents and teachers on this topic. I am sure our students will receive many of benefits from attending this important seminar.
We have also asked Paul to return to the College and present to parents and caregivers on this topic on Thursday 11 August from 7:00pm - 8:30pm. I strongly recommend that all families make attending this information evening a priority.
The launch of the HeARTS Festival will take place from 3:45pm next Friday (24 June). The Arts Learning Area will be celebrating the talents of over 200 students across all disciplines (Dance, Drama, Media, Music and Visual Arts). Attendees will be treated to a stunning array of buskers, dance teams, art and films, not to mention the Year 9 Musical Theatre class performing The Little Mermaid which is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
On Sunday 26 June, the entertainment continues with our very talented singers and musicians performing from 11:00am - 3:00pm in the RNDM Theatre. I hope many of our parents and friends of the College can attend this weekend long event and support our hardworking students.
The full program is available below.
So far, today’s weather appears to be conducive for a successful Athletics Competitors Carnival. Whilst the forecast for later in the day and into the evening is for rain, we are hopeful that conditions remain favourable for our athletes.
God Bless.
