Rakugo and Kyogen

Kingswood Primary School held a Rakugo (Traditional Japanese comic storytelling) and Kyogen (Traditional Japanese comic theatre) workshop on Friday the 17th of June.

We were lucky to have Jarrod Hoare, who is a Japanese traditional comedy ‘Rakugo’ performer. He performed in both English and Japanese. Jarrod also taught some Japanese words to our students based on his Rakugo and Kyogen performances. I am sure the students and teachers enjoyed his Rakugo and Kyogen sessions.

Thank you to Mr. Cox, Mr. Davey, Mrs Eeckman and one of our ex-students, Megan, for joining the workshop to perform their ‘Rakugo’ to our students. Also, thanks to all the students and teachers who participated so enthusiastically. It was a great day to celebrate our learning of Japanese.

Here are the links to Jarrod’s YouTube videoclips. If you would like to know about ‘Rakugo’ and ‘Kyogen’ please watch the following videoclips.
