STUDENT NEWS
Congratulations to our talented athletes Jacob Mibus and Alannah Sander, both of Year 11 who competed superbly in the State Junior Athletics Championships in Melbourne last weekend. Jacob won medals in all the para events he competed in with his new special running blade. This included 2 PB’s in the 100 and 200m sprint events. Awesome effort Jacob!
Alannah placed in the top eight in the state for U18’s in triple jump with a seasons best jump of 10.40m. She also came away with a PB in the 100m sprint. Congratulations Alannah!
HOUSE ATHLETICS
The annual House Athletics Sports are to be held on Friday 9th March at Pedrina Park, commencing at 9.10am. There are lots of opportunities for all the students to participate on the day with a full program – only the high jump events are being held before the day at lunchtimes in the sports centre. The successful program that was used for the first time in 2016 with both track and field events to be held simultaneously during the day will be used again– this has meant I will need as many parents and friends of the college to volunteer to assist during the day so please contact me if you are interested in helping for all or part of the day. House teams will be selected in house meetings during the next week and the programme of events will be available on the Intranet in the Sports folder or from the front desk a few days before the event.
SWIMMING
A full report on the ICCES Swimming Carnival being held next week in Melbourne should appear in next week’s newsletter. The team is training hard to do well in this high standard competition.
A report on last week’s most successful Glenelg Division swimming carnival appears in this newsletter from our swimming captains.
FOOTBALL
The new football season is fast approaching and the College Magpies club that the school is affiliated with will be entering Under 13 and Under 16 teams in the second season of the “Hamilton Kangaroos Junior Football Association”. This will mean our numbers are capped and not all College students (depending on the interest shown) will be able to play and if you intend on playing then it would be in your best interest to be a registered player not a “permit” player. All current and potential players should attend training sessions being run by the Hamilton Kangaroos players at Pedrina Park on Wednesday 14th and 21st March from 4.30pm. For more information please email me.
TEAM APP
These have been set up for many of our sports so far, this current season and are a great way to get instant notifications and messages on student’s smartphones or IPad about what is happening in the sport. Players and/or parents should get an email from the Head of Sport or coach setting them up and then can request to join. For more information, you can download “Team App” in the app stores or go to www.teamapp.com and start searching for “College” teams.

We have already seen the amazing results our training has had so we strongly encourage all swimmers to come down to give us the best possible chance at ICCES.
