Boarding

Last Saturday a group of boarders showed some families through the boarding campus following the scholarship exams. It was fantastic to hear what the families had to say about these students who all proved to be wonderful ambassadors for boarding and the College. Thanks to Georgia Hodgetts, Amy Steer, Anna Spaull, Claudia Roberts, Sami Zehir and Marcus Chu for doing such a tremendous job. Also, thanks to Gail for helping with the organisation and ensuring all rooms looked amazing.

On Sunday, we were treated to some quality cricket as College took on Monivae in a cross-town rival clash. The Women’s 1st XI had a convincing win with a team comprising a number of boarders. Congratulations to Hannah Russell who was awarded Woman of the Match for her efforts with both ball and bat.

The Men’s 1st XI lost narrowly but the cricket was extremely entertaining and played at a high standard. I was proud to see some of our younger boarders in this team, particularly Tyler Hateley who is only in Year 8. Ben McCure, Lachlan Craig, and Tyler all contributed with the ball taking wickets during the game.

This Thursday evening, we will be holding our first Food Committee Meeting of the year and I am looking forward to hearing feedback and ideas about our food. This Committee is led by our Captains Georgia and Toby.

I am delighted to announce that Laura Dufty has been appointed as the school nurse. Laura started this week and we all look forward to benefiting from her care and expertise. The boarders are no doubt relieved that Mr Smith is no longer on school nurse duties.

We wish the best of luck to all our rowers heading off for the regatta this weekend. I know they have been training extremely hard and I hope the early morning sessions will pay off. I look forward to hearing all the news. Best of luck also to the Women’s A-Grade cricket team who are playing in the semi finals this weekend in Casterton.
