YEAR 12 VCE & VCAL TERTIARY INFORMATION SESSION EXCURSION TO LATROBE UNIVERSITY TUESDAY 22ND MAY
Periods 4-6
All Year 12 VCE and VCAL students will be attending a Tertiary Information Session at La Trobe University on Tuesday 22nd May from periods 4 to 6. It is a unique opportunity for students to collect information about tertiary courses for 2019 in the one place as all Universities and TAFE Institutes will be in attendance at La Trobe University on this day. Students will travel by bus after period 3 and return by 3.10.
There will be a general information session where students will learn about post school options and how to apply for courses for next year. They will then have the chance to collect the latest course information for 2019 and speak to the representatives. The cost for the excursion is $5 to cover the bus and payment and consent can be made through COMPASS. This is a valuable experience for all Year 12 students as it will motivate them to start planning for post year 12 options. The Careers Team will work closely with all Year 12 students in Term 3 to guide them through the application process and to provide them with options for next year.
Please contact the Careers Team if you have any enquiries.

Trade TAFE taster
On Thursday the 10th of May, a select number of year 10 students from Greensborough College were invited to attend a Trade Taster Day at Melbourne Polytechnic in Heidelberg. Seventeen students represented our school at the event and should be praised for their behaviour and contribution on the day. Our students had the opportunity to meet students from other schools as well as some former students currently undertaking studies at the Heidelberg campus.
Students participated in a two-hour guided tour of the following departments: Hair and Barbering; Fabrication; Agriculture and Conservation; Painting and Plastering; Bricklaying; Carpentry; Hospitality. Students were able to gain some hands on experience in each of the trade areas, as well as sample some of the offerings from the Hospitality department (e.g. mocktails and cupcakes). Students also chatted with qualified tradespeople and experts from a variety of fields.
Hopefully this excursion has given students some ideas about possible careers and pathways beyond secondary school. I would like to thank all students and our Education Support Staff member, Debbie Davoli, for attending and contributing to such a worthwhile event.
