Exam results
All Year 12s, and those Year 11 students who may have sat Unit 3/4 exams, are reminded that the study scores come out on Friday 15 December 2017. To access these results students can:
- Log on to Results and ATAR anytime from 7am Friday 15 December 2017 AEDST. This service is free and operates 24 hours a day.
- Type in your VCAA student number and, where a PIN is required, type in the first four digits of your birth date, eg. 22 August would be 2208.
It should be pointed out that the School is not able to release results or ATARs to parents or other parties as the results are the property of the student. Students and parents are certainly encouraged to make an appointment to discuss possible changes to preferences and other issues arising out of results. Students should get their preferences right to maximise their chances for Round 1 offers by Wednesday 20 December.
The ATAR statement from VTAC and the results from VCAA will be in the mail any time from Monday 18 December 2017.
Changing tertiary preferences
Important tips for changing your course preferences:
1: Always list courses in order of preference!
Don't make the mistake of listing your course preferences in the order you think you will get into. Selection authorities may make multiple offers to the same applicant, but you will only receive an offer for the highest offered course on your preference list. If you don't list courses in the order you most want to study you may end up missing out on the course you most want to do. For more information on how offers work, see Offers, enrolment and deferment.
2: Remember some courses can't be added after certain dates! Some courses do not accept new course applications after a certain date. Check the course description and selection criteria carefully before adding any courses to your preferences to make sure the closing date has not already passed.
3: Don't delete and re-add courses, use the re-ordering arrows! If you delete a course with an early closing date (see above) from your preferences, you will not be able to add it back to your application. To be safe, use the up and down arrows to re-order your preferences.
4: Changing your preferences during the offer rounds! Once you have received an offer you cannot delete that course from your preferences, however you can move it up or down your list, change the order of your other preferences or add new courses.
5: What if I get my first preference, can I still change my preferences? If you get your first preference in an offer round, congratulations! If you want to change your preferences and see if you get an offer for one of the other courses included on your preference list or maybe add a new course, simply move your offered course to the bottom of your preference list. That way, institutions will know to consider your course application in subsequent rounds. Remember that you are not guaranteed to get an offer in any subsequent rounds, so make sure you follow the enrolment instructions available from your VTAC account by the deadline specified in the offer message.
