Year 8 Writing

Last term our year 8 students explored different genres of writing. One class wrote some wonderful SLAM poetry, choosing their own issues that they were passionate about.

Somewhere in Australia

Somewhere in Australia in every single state

Kids get bullied for what’s on their plate

Others wearing all their cool gear

Blinded by the fact that kids are consumed by fear

Most kids get sucked in trying to look cool

While others are scared just to go to school

Somewhere in Australia

Schools say they support anti-bullying

But they don’t even know what the bullies are doing

Kids think they are safe at home alone

But the bullies still strike over the phone

Posting pictures with friends on Instagram

Bullies say they weigh too many “kilograms”

Somewhere In Australia

Kids watching others getting beaten up

But they are just too scared to speak up

Bullies make kids their prey

Forcing kids to think if they should live another day

Somewhere in Australia

We need to make a change and make it our goal

To band together and stop bullying as a whole
