Happy Easter -

Καλό Πάσχα

The Season of Easter is upon us.

Easter is not just a day but a season that lasts from Easter Sunday until Pentecost. Our Our Family Prayer Boxes include a white cloth and our classroom prayer spaces have a white prayer cloth to celebrate the joy and new beginning that Easter offers us all. It certainly is very different to last year's Easter when the sense of joy was harder to find as we began our COVID journey.

This weekend it is Orthodox Easter, which for many families in our community will be a real time for celebration, joy and family. Καλό Πάσχα to you all.

In case you are curious...

The Roman Catholic Church celebrates Easter the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Autumn equinox (2oth March).

Orthodox Churches use the Julian calendar (rather than the Gregorian that we use everyday) and this means that Orthodox Easter can fall on the same day, or usually one or two weeks after the Roman Catholic Easter. This year it is four weeks later.

No matter the calendar or the date, the message is the same. Easter is the celebration of Jesus Christ's victory over death. His resurrection symbolizes the eternal life that is granted to all who believe in Him. It is a message of faith, peace, joy and love.

Our Easter Prayer

Alleluia! Alleluia!

God made you and God made me,

He made the world for us to see.

God loves you and long ago,

He sent his Son to tell us so.

Jesus showed us many things,

To love and share and dance and sing.

To learn and pray, to help and care,

He promised he’d always be there.

He died but then came back to life,

Let's celebrate for he’s alive!

 Alleluia! Alleluia!
