Acting Principal

Dear Families
Well we have certainly begun the term with a wonderful feeling of celebration! Not that the above picture shows that... but more about that later! Over the holidays as a staff we celebrated the birth of Mrs Rimington's baby girl Evie and celebrated Miss O'Halloran's wedding - welcome to COHR Mrs Goldring! Congratulations, and as I wrote in the Staff Memo how blessed we are to celebrate the joys of life's journey with them all.
Our Easter Liturgy and our ANZAC ceremony have both been great celebrations of things we hold dear, our faith and our nation. Our Caritas Day raised over $2300, a great effort for our school and a credit to the generosity of the families at COHR. There has been a day 'Back to the Past' for our Year 1/2s, Chess lessons have begun for our Year 3/4s and our Year 5/6s are preparing for their first Winter Inter-school Sports tomorrow! Wow and it is only Week 2 - imagine how much is still to come as we travel and learn through this term.
Orthodox Easter
This weekend it is Greek Easter. We hope our families have a wonderful celebration of this most joyous time and make up for the lockdown of last year, when celebrations were so small.
Facebook, Instagram & Twitter
For those who use Social Media, COHR now has Facebook, Twitter and Instagram all with the one handle @COHR3166. These sites are a great place to see all the things that are happening. We try to post as often as we can, at the moment that is very frequently. Feel free to 'like' and please 'share' our story so that more people in Oakleigh especially, hear of the wonderful happenings at COHR.
Parents Association
Looking forward we will have the Mother's Day stall next Thursday in Room 120 - the COHR Community Hub. A great range of gifts will be available from $2 to $10.
We will have a Mother's Morning Tea in the Courtyard after Monday's Assembly on May 10th - I wonder if there is a Dad out there who could make the coffees using our machine?
Also don't forget every Friday is Cake Raffle Day - 50cents a ticket. The Pumpkin Raffle is also happening - your chance for a 50cent ticket to win a school-grown pumpkin.
PSW - Uniforms
PSW Uniforms has moved from Stephensons Road to Springvale Road in Glen Waverley behind Officeworks. The new premises are much larger, so they will be able to carry more stock and the parking is much easier. Please see flyer in the Community News Page.
Soft Plastic Volunteer
In our endeavours to be a more sustainable school, we need help with the soft plastics collection. We require a parent on each Friday to take our bag of soft plastics down to either Woolworths or Coles for recycling. If you are able to help, please contact the office.
Unallocated School Fees
We have received some money on the 12th April which we presume is the payment of school fees but is unnamed. Please contact the office if this could be your school payment.
Government Schools in 2022
If your child will be attending a Government Secondary school in 2022, please contact the office as they have received application forms for you to complete.
Thank you
In Brendan's absence I have really felt the warmth of the COHR community. I am yet to walk across the courtyard in the morning or afternoon without a parent giving me words of encouragement or support, or to be told of something wonderful that has happened to one of our students. Thank you for making this time of my 'Acting' Principal so joyful. We have had a happy family snap from Brendan in WA. He looks very relaxed and tanned, I suspect returning in Week 5 during Melbourne's winter may be a rude shock!
My Plant
Finally to explain our heading picture. I do not have green thumb! Ms Tobin generously gave me a plant to brighten my days in Brendan's absence. When I told my Dad that I had been given a plant, he simply said, "Oh no!" Within 5 days the plant was looking like the picture - staff were visiting my Office and laughing at my lack of horticultural skills - Ms Tobin you did well - it has certainly brightened the staff's days!
Take care and keep safe
