PRAYER

We are currently racing towards Easter which is the holiest time of the church's year.  It would be wonderful if you attended a church service with your son(s) at this time.

Holy Week began last Sunday, with Palm Sunday. We have the Last Supper celebration on Holy Thursday and we remember The Crucifixion on Good Friday. On Good Friday most churches have a Stations of the Cross at 10.00 am and another service at 3.00 pm.  Obviously Easter Sunday is 3 days later and we celebrate Jesus’ rising with a symbol of new life which is an egg, usually made out of chocolate. I would like to encourage you to take your son to church at this time and then enjoy a chocolate egg.  Please remember to check with your own Parish as you will possibly need to register to attend services.

Hopefully you will make time to visit a church during this most holy of times.  It is important to take time so I have included the following prayer.

TAKE TIME

Take time to THINK…it is the source of power.

Take time to PLAY…it is the secret of perpetual youth.

Take time to READ…it is the fountain of wisdom.

Take time to PRAY…it is the greatest power on earth.

Take time to LOVE and BE LOVED...it is a God-given privilege.

Take time to BE FRIENDLY...it is the road to happiness.

Take time to LAUGH…it is the music of the soul.

Take time to GIVE…it is too short a day to be selfish.

Take time to WORK…it is the price of success.

Take time to DO CHARITY…it is the key to heaven.

The Easter season then extends from the Easter Vigil through to Pentecost 49 days later.

NAPLAN Online 2021

Our Year 5 students sat the online Writing practice test today.  Hopefully, they now have an idea about how the NAPLAN online test will work next term. It would be good for the boys to continue to practice their online typing.  The teachers have been practising timing with the boys.

Mr Benn McBrearty - Junior School Sports Master

Cross Country Training:

A group of dedicated Senior and Junior School students have been training diligently under the coaching of Izzy and the leadership of Matt North (Yr 12) in preparation for their respective representative Carnivals. We are seeing some cracking PB’s as the fitness work pays off.

IPSHA (Yrs 5-6) is now on Wednesday 21 April

ISA (Yrs 7-12) – Wednesday 26 May

The holiday period could see the undoing of a lot of hard work. However, Izzy has provided a training program for athletes, differentiated for Snr/Jnr level. Hard-copies have been distributed and a copy can be found here.

I suggest training with a buddy on some days would be a great option and increase motivation.

Two-warm up events that take place these holidays are listed. Students can register at their own discretion. Details for the latter is in this Woodchatta.

Sun 4 April                              Running Stars Curl Curl Series, Curl Curl (2.5k, 5k)

Sun 18 April                            Lindfield Fun Run, Roseville (5k)

In Term 2 training will continue on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. However, we will now commence at 7.15 am as we ramp up towards the pointy end of the season. Students who cannot make the early start should still arrive when they can and join in.

Have a great Easter break, characterised by at least as many miles as chocolate eggs!
