Wellbeing Anecdote from the Student Diary

In the wake of National Day of action Against Bullying and Violence, and Harmony Day:

“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more,

do more and become more, you are a leader” John Quincy Adams

“Be the change you want to see in the world” Gandhi

Peer Mentor Activities Afternoon

Congratulations to our Year 12 Peer Mentors and their Year 5, 6 and 7 Mentees, who are participating in an activities afternoon today on the Chatswood Campus. The afternoon is being led by Callum Fitzgibbon of Mrs Bamber’s Year 12 Student Empowerment Team and College Captain Liam Chang. Well done to all involved as we look forward to a fun afternoon of connective activities albeit with some noticeable absences with our 1st XI Football away on CIS Cup duties.

ANZAC Day Dawn Service

Congratulations to Year 11 student Elliott Cook who has been selected to give the Occasional Address at Chatswood RSL Garden of Remembrance ANZAC Day Dawn Service, Albert Ave Chatswood. Elliott will be meeting with Chatswood RSL Sub Branch President Mr Barney Flanagan and Mr Garry Brigden, Director and Sub Branch Secretary this week to prepare for the event.

Matt Talbot Hostel Holy Thursday Dinner Service – “The Last Supper”

Thank you to Elliott Cook and Anthony Elliott who have offered to serve dinner to the Matt Talbot Hostel clientele this Holy Thursday. Coupled with the generous donations and alms-giving our students are contributing this week, this brings our Lenten journey to a meaningful conclusion before we commemorate the Passion of Christ on Good Friday and celebrate the Resurrection on Sunday. No doubt our Drama students, led by Cultural Prefect Charlie Hamill, will lead us in a powerful Liturgy and Easter reflection on Thursday.

Year 7 Progress and Form Meeting

Congratulations to our Year 7 Cohort on the positive manner in which they have settled into High School under the guidance of Mr Steinman and his Pastoral Care Team. Having taken on the growth mindset challenges of Year 7 Camp, and now beginning Winter Sport seasons, it was pleasing to see the number of students engaged with the Music programs at the Twilight Concert last Thursday. As students fill in their extra curricula activities survey over the coming days I remind all that there are still spots available in the 13s Rugby program with all participants welcome.

Speaking of high performers the photo below shows all the Award winners from Term 1 studies as they were recognised at Mr Steinman’s form meeting last Thursday. Well done to all.

On Tuesday at Oxford Falls our Year 7 students completed their House Cup Cross Country competition with the following students collecting valuable House Cup points.

Happy and Holy Easter Break

Wishing a Happy and Holy Easter break to all our students, staff and families, who have made it to the conclusion of a very full Term 1, and following on from an eventful 12 months, to say the least.  We look forward to seeing all students back at the College in polished and neat Winter Uniform on Tuesday 20 April after a Staff Day on Monday 19 April at which our P & F committee are generously providing the staff breakfast.

St Pius X College acknowledges our First Nations, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and particularly the Cammeraygal people,

whose interconnection with this land sustained and

fulfilled them mentally, physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually,

over thousands of years.

May we learn from their wisdom.
