NSW PSSA Tennis
Archie McCormack spent last week in Newcastle representing Polding at the NSW PSSA Tennis Championships. Archie played fantastic tennis all week and really enjoyed making new friends with his Polding team mates. The 5 boys in the Polding team made it to the semifinals where they were beaten by CIS (Combined Independent Schools), who were the overall winners. Polding won their next match to end up coming 3rd out of 13 teams which was a top effort.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF REPRESENTATIVE SPORT
Students in NSW Catholic primary Schools had limited representative opportunities in sport prior to 1995. For some years leading to 1995, the Inter Diocesan Sports Council co-ordinated a variety of Major sports fixtures for Catholic primary schools in NSW. In 1995, two Catholic Regions (Polding & MacKillop) were established to ensure the involvement of Catholic schools in NSW PSSA State level competitions. The Armidale Diocese is a member of the Polding Region. The Polding name is taken from Australia's first Catholic Bishop John Bede Polding (1794 -1877). Bishop Polding was appointed in 1835. He sought to provide efficient administrators to set up dioceses and to respond to the pastoral needs of the community.
