Chaplain @ Cornerstone

In the last few months several local High Schools have experienced the tragic loss of students, and this past weekend a car accident involving Cape Naturaliste students has further contributed to this.  As a school, we extend our deepest sympathy to the Cape Naturaliste College community and are discussing ideas of a gift to symbolize our thoughts for them at this time.

Please be aware that these events can be difficult for teens to process, and even if they did not know the students involved, they may have significant emotional reactions.    Support options available for our students include a College chaplain service available on Wednesday and Fridays or speaking to a Head of House.  In addition, below are some 24/7 support lines that can be accessed for support.

Lifeline - 13 11 14

Beyond Blue - 1300 22 4636

Kids helpline - 1800 55 1800

It was great timing to have Adam Przytula from 'Armed for Life' generously give his time to speak with the high school about recognizing stress and developing emotional resilience.  Armed for Life is a fantastic organization that seeks to encourage and inspire teens to make positive choices to build into their lives and productively deal with problems they may face.  Armed for Life also run fantastic camps twice a year that are highly recommended by past participants, including some from our college.  Check out armedforlife.com.au for more details.

The high school toilet project is continuing through Term 2, and it's exciting to see the talent of our students emerging through the designs.  This is another initiative that seeks to promote student well-being in our college and has been met with enthusiasm by Secondary students.  If any Primary parents would like to be part of the planning for the 'primary school toilet project' later this year please get in touch at odette.blennerhassett@cornerstone.wa.edu.au

Keep a lookout around Primary classrooms for the new artwork created by some very creative Primary students! Themed around our values of Respect, Responsibility and Relationship are some very impressive entries and we look forward to celebrating the winners at assembly next week.  All entries will be displayed in the library for the remainder of term so all of our community can enjoy the efforts of all our Primary artists!

As always, don't hesitate to get in touch.
