Principal Post

Dear Families,
From a beautiful weekend weather wise to a showery week! Its clear we are in the Month of May, in Melbourne!!
To all our families who celebrated Orthodox Easter, we hope that the occasion with family and friends was both very holy and festive.
Whilst the COVID restrictions have eased somewhat here in Melbourne, we particularly remember in our prayers and thoughts all those in India and other parts of the world who are suffering immeasurably as the COVID Pandemic continues to grow. To those within our community who have relative and friends in these places, you are very much in our hearts.
Student Attendance / Holidays
A reminder that it is important that students are at school on time unless unwell.
Parents are reminded to let the office know of absences by 9:30. Please follow the phone prompts.
Holidays:
Students should be at school every day to best support their learning.
If a parent chooses to take their child out of the school for a holiday, a form is required to be completed and signed by the class teacher and principal. If a child is away, they will miss learning concepts. The form is available at the office and from the website.
Staff News Term 2
We farewelled Claire Russo last week as she takes up her Religious Education teaching post at Mazenod. Claire has been at SJV for the past eleven years as a classroom teacher. In the past two years at SJV, Claire has also taken the role of Religious Education Leader. We thank Claire for her contributions to our school and wish her well as she takes new challenges!
With the departure of Claire Russo we welcome Beth O'Gorman to our school!
We are delighted to have Beth join our team for the remainder of the 2021 school year! Beth officially began with us on Monday and her enthusiastic and positive manner has been well received by students and staff alike. She has met with the parents of her students. Beth will teach the 3/4 OS class, Monday - Thursday with Emma Sofra continuing her teaching role in the class on Friday. On Friday Beth will work within other classes and assist in the supervision of school sport.
I am sure you join with me in welcoming Beth to our school community. If you see Beth make sure you say hello.
From Beth....
Hello! Firstly thank you everyone for the warm welcome I have received. The staff, students and parents of SJV have all been so welcoming and I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting each of you. I little about myself: I love reading, baking and gardening. I hope to share these hobbies with my class this year. I am looking forward to the year ahead and progressing your child's learning journey! I cannot wait to share more moments with our community. Don't be shy, come and introduce yourself! You'll find me in 3/4 OS!
Congratulations Cyrella!!
